Girl Rise Up is thrilled to partner with Hello Hair Collective for an event that pampers and nurtures girls and mentors and focuses on HAIR! Loving and understanding your hair from a young age helps build confidence and appreciation for the hair you are born with. Girls will have an opportunity to choose how they want to spend their time in the chair - from haircuts, styling tips and tricks, and luxury hair treatments. Attendees will also learn about hair maintenance and health. Plus, we’ll enjoy a craft and snacks provided by Hello Hair. Please register by Monday, April 15.

Katy experienced the early loss of her mother and will share with attendees through example and teaching how creative expression can be healing for those who are grieving. Girls and mentors are invited to a Healthy Relationships Workshop - Part 2! - led by Renée Divine, LMFT.

Based on our first Healthy Relationships Workshop in November 2023, we will learn more about healthy relationship skills and how to use them to create trusting and caring connections with people you know and those you’d like to know better. We will continue to explore safety, connection, trust, empathy, and all the emotions you feel in your relationships. We also want to hear how you feel and what you experience with your caregivers, mentors, and friends and what you might need to succeed in creating healthy connections. Due to the content that will be explored, this workshop is open to girls ages 12+.

Join our She Climbs Mountains and Girls Rise Up community at Lakewood’s Annual Lantern Lighting Celebration on Friday, September 22. Lanterns will be provided to all attendees who are interested in decorating. Please register through the link provided by She Climbs Mountains so that we can provide an accurate number of lanterns at NO COST to attendees.

This event takes place from 5-8:30pm and includes activities outside of the lantern lighting, which we encourage SCM + GRU attendees to enjoy. Registrants will receive an email approximately one week prior to the event with detailed information regarding meeting time and location for lantern decorating and release as a community.

JOIN US AT LAKEWOOD WITH YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND COMMUNITY FOR A MOVING AND MEANINGFUL EXPERIENCE.

YOU CAN RESERVE A LANTERN, WHICH LAKEWOOD WILL PROVIDE, AND DECORATE IT WITH WORDS OR IMAGES OF SOMEONE THAT YOU LOVE AND MISS. MARKERS AND SUPPLIES WILL BE PROVIDED, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO INCLUDE A PHOTO YOU WILL NEED TO BRING IN A SCANNED OR COPIED IMAGE AS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET THE LANTERNS BACK.

AT DUSK, WE WILL ILLUMINATE OUR LANTERNS TOGETHER AND RELEASE THEM ONTO THE LAKE IN A BEAUTIFUL CEREMONY, READING THE NAMES OF THOSE WHO ARE MISSED. THE EFFECT IS BREATHTAKING AND MAGICAL, CONNECTING US TO OUR LOVED ONES AND TO EACH OTHER.

Girls, caregivers. family members, and mentors are invited to celebrate the end of summer at the New Hope Aquatic Park! Picnic lunch will be provided from 11am-Noon. Attendees will enjoy the pools, water slides, and other water park amenities from Noon-2pm. Girls are invited to attend without a caregiver or mentor present. If a girl is unable to swim on her own, she is responsible for bringing her own life jacket. We look forward to spending a fun and relaxing day together! Please register by Monday, August 14.

This workshop is geared towards professionals and organizations serving children and families who would like to learn about our transformative program for daughters who have experienced the death of a mother. We will also be joined by one of our Girls Rise Up mentors who will share about her experience and the impact of our programming.

Welcome to the Flying Trapeze!  First time Girls Rise Up students are introduced to the equipment and facilities and given a quick overview of safety requirements. Next you will be taught a ‘knee hang’ position to practice on our low trapeze bar. Then it’s up the ladder to the Trapeze Rig. One instructor remains with you on the Trapeze Rig, another pulls the safety lines and the third remains on the ground offering corrections/encouragement/assistance as needed.

During the final portion of the class, the third instructor becomes the "Catcher" and climbs onto the Rig to catch the students as you perform your trick. This is the final step of the first day and most people consider it the highlight.

Best attire is something you feel comfortable moving in, and as we'll be working with safety equipment long pants and shirts that cover the midriff are strongly recommended. A light snack and drinks will be provided. All participants must complete this waiver prior to the event date.

In this 3-part series, Lisa Van Ahn, Founder of I AM Initiative, will teach the basics of self-protection while also guiding girls to self-esteem, self-responsibility, and self-care. We initiate growth in trusting our intuition, facing our fears, learning to love ourselves through loss, and the importance of believing in who we are through movement and interactive exercises such as kickboxing and board breaking.
